Who Took the Cookies from the Cookie Jar?

Chapter I:

That’s How the Cookie Crumbles

It was a horrid beginning of a new day when the Dragonball crew discovered that the lovable Son Gokuu was dead as I recall. Sure it wasn’t uncommon to find out that Gokuu was dead, but it was the way how he was killed. I remember watching the news that morning. This led me into flashback to that day…

“Another boring day in the life me,” I stated to myself reaching for the TV remote. Maybe some meaningless dribble will lighten my day. I just recently found out if I don’t get any clients soon I’ll be out of a job. Great just what I need, getting fired from one of the few good jobs I had. Here I am a single girl living out on her own for the past three years without any contact with my friends. And now I’m about to get canned. Why in the hell did I have to move to Japan?

My trend of thought was ruined when a breaking news flash popped onto the TV screen. They were reporting of a murder sighting in the forest near Mt. Paozu. “A man was found at the base of Mt. Paozu in a ditch. It is conformed that the man’s name is Son Gokuu and that he is deceased. The murderer is unknown and no clues were found to their whereabouts More at eleven… Next! How to prevent scum building up in your sink,” the reporter went on.

Astounded by the fact that the news was finally covering the good stuff, I thought this was my chance! So I turned off that TV and grabbed my coat! This certainly was the break I needed.

About an hour later I found myself in the midst of excitement in the woods. It was a cold cloudy day. There were fire trucks and police cars all over the place. The men in blue had strung up wide yellow tape to keep the people out of the way. I made my way over to the confusion only to be blocked out. “Hey I’m detective, Krystyl Kane! (a/n: Hehehe… What you thought I was a fictional character? Oh come on!) Now let me to the scene!” I snarled showing my badge.

The policeman lifted up the tape up as far as he could from its restrains, “Okay but make this quick.” Ducking below the tape I thought, how stupid is this guy? Doesn’t he know it takes more than just a quick look to solve a murder mystery?

“Oh my Kami…” it was the only thing I could say when I saw the body after being led by the policeman. The body was almost completely torn limb from limb. Scratches, bruises, and deep cuts were located head to toe. And what really caught my eye was the pure look of agony on his face. How could anyone be that brutal?

There was something very odd about this crime scene. The soil here was rich and mushy. Footprints would have been left but none were found. I searched for any indication of any clue. Who ever this was, they knew what they were doing, I thought to myself. Again and again I circled around the site looking for anything. That’s when I saw it a thermos; it looked as though it had been thrown from the scene. I opened it. It had the remains an unknown liquid in it. “Hey I think I’ve got something here!” I shouted back.

Three men in blue ran towards me as I lifted the thermos. The tall one on the right was the first to speak, “How does this help any? I thought you had a clue; that’s just a thermos.”

“Yes, but it is the only thing we’ve found out here,” I replied angrily.

Now the man on the far left spoke, “But that doesn’t mean it’s a clue.” The three then dismissed themselves back to business twenty feet away.

Yaro!” I shouted as they left. What did they know? They don’t even know what happens when the world’s is apparel. Oh screw it.

Deciding I had all the information I could get from there I ventured on to the residents of the Son home with the thermos in my right hand. I never knew how Mt. Paozu was. It seemed to take forever until I saw it, a small cottage with a Capsule house addition. Gradually, step by step, I had made it to the front door of the small home. With a firm nock of the door, it swung open revealing a short woman with long, black hair. Obviously she had been crying. Her face was red and puffy, with traces of tear streaks.

“Sorry to bother you but is this the Son residents?” I asked calmly.

The woman sniffled a bit and wiped her tears away before she said anything. ”Yes it is, I’m Chi Chi. So, have you come to tell me more news about my husband’s death?” she asked solemnly.

“Not exactly, I’m here to find out who killed your koibito,” I continued, “My name’s Krystyl Kane and I’m a detective.” I showed her my badge, mainly because it was mandatory. When she saw it we sat down on a dark green sofa, “Now can you tell me everything that’s happened in the past few days?” I finished pulling out a small notepad.

Chi Chi gave out a shaky breath, “Well it all seemed like normal until last night when Gokuu-sa went for a short walk.” She paused for a moment, “His walk should’ve been over within an hour or so. But he never came home. And then when I heard the news…”

I tried to ease her pain when began to cry hysterically by resting my hand on her shoulder, “I know it’s tough. But can you recall anything else?” Her answer was an unsteady shake of the head.

Just then a young man sauntered into the room. And man o’ man was he hot. (a/n: Gomen, couldn’t resist!) He had jet black, spiky hair that molded his handsome face. “What’s up Okaasan? Who’s this?”

I sighed, here we go again I though to myself. After I had introduced each other and I had learned the man’s name was Goten, I commenced in the questioning, “Now your mother had told me what had happened. I want to know if there was anything out of the ordinary, for instance, a change of behavior.”

Goten gave a thoughtful appearance on his face before he answered, “Nothing much, except Oji-san was angry at my dad, but then again he’s always mad.”

“And who is this Oji-san?” I questioned.

Throughout the day I found myself interviewing many people who were either family or friends. Shit this guy had a lot of friends. And the interviews weren’t getting me anywhere. This may prove to be a hard case after all. I was back at my apartment laying in bed the lights were all turned off as I stare off into space. That’s when it happened!
